Students are expected to follow all of our classroom rules. Rules are needed to promote a positive and safe learning environment. Our rules are posted in the classroom and referred to often so they are reinforced to the students.
Our rules are as follows:
1. Be kind – Be kind with your words and actions.
2. Be positive – Keep a good attitude and keep trying.
3. Be respectful – Show respect for yourself and for others and keep our classroom and school neat and clean. Show respect to your teacher by following directions the first time.
4. Be polite – Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself and raise your hand to speak.
5. Be safe - Follow rules and procedures to help keep everyone safe!
6. Be your best – Work hard and put a smile on your face. Always follow all classroom, school, hallway and cafeteria rules and expectations.
Positive Behavior Incentives: Students who move to the top of the Mustang Manners Stick (Purple) each day will earn two “Caught You Being Good” coins. Students who move to the Blue section of the Mustang Manners Stick will earn one "Caught You Being Good" coin. Once a child has earned ten “Caught You Being Good” coins, they will get to choose a treat from the classroom Treasure Box!
We also have a whole class positive behavior incentive. As a class, once the students fill a tens frame with "Warm and Fuzzies" by earning compliments from other teachers or are all making good choices at the same time (example: all working on task or lining up perfectly the first time), we will celebrate with a special activity of their choice.
Explanation of Behavior Clip System:
Purple: Exceptional behavior – The student was caught doing something good that makes the student a role model. This earns 2 "Caught You Being Good" coins.
Blue: Great behavior AND great work habits (throughout the day) – The student will earn one “Caught You Being Good” coin.
Green: Good behavior AND good work habits (throughout the day) – All students start the day here.
Yellow: Verbal Teacher Warning – This is given to remind the student to make better choices with behavior and/or work habits.
Red: Teacher Choice – Consequences decided by teacher. The teacher may contact parents by note and/or phone call.
***Students may move up and down the Mustang Manners Stick throughout the day, depending on their behavior.
Please discuss these rules, rewards and consequences with your child. From time to time, we will place a student on a Bragging Behavior sheet to help a child improve his/her undesired or reoccurring negative behaviors. These have proven to be extremely beneficial for both the parent in terms of daily communication and for the student so that they are able to see their progress. These Bragging Behavior sheets should not be seen as a bad thing, but as a way to help your child become his/her best!
Thank you for your continued support!
